Sport: An early report tonight as most of us are heading to the Fulling Mill final the next report will be Tuesday as our new member of the team Steven island isn’t up to speed with the report yet. Today has seen great cloud cover and warm temperatures with only a slight breeze, perfect for fishing. Up to date we have had 1 double figure fish of 11lb 3oz by Mr Gallagher. Michelle avis and son had a great ½ day session with the young lad landing 9 fish and mum landing 2. Our own Terry Wilson also had a good afternoon with five fish all falling to hoppers. The other anglers that have been in are all saying the same thing with daddies and hoppers doing the damage. Just in Isle-of-Man Angler Graham Norman had 11 fish on a ½ day ticket with a silver butcher and white blob combo doing the damage. Take it easy on Steve over the next two days he’s still learning. See you in the lodge Pete

Stocks Report: Friday 10th July

Report Author:    Matthew
Best Catch:    6 fish for Paul Hale
Heaviest Bag:    5 fish for 10lb 8oz Paul Hale
Best Rainbow:    3lb Darrin Mayor
Best Brownie:    Several at 2lb
Best Blue:     2lb for Antoom Gysbers
Bank Rod Av:    2.20
Boat Rod Av:    2.40
Sport:  Generally a pretty productive day with the best sport taking place first thing. Daddy’s and black bobs bits took the fish from a drifting boat this morning, however as lunch time approached the wind got up and coupled with the bright sunshine things became trickier.
Paul Hale had 6 good fish to the boat with a Green Cats whisker doing the trick; while boat partner Sean Robinson had the fish chasing an orange blob. Sean must have been gutted when he saw a Stocks double figure trout take his fly only for it to throw the hook only moments later!
The forecast looks good for the weekend so I’m sure the fishing will be excellent.
Tight lines Matthew.

stocks:thursday 9th july

Date:    Thursday 9th July.
Report Author:    Paul.
Best Catch:    6 fish for Karl Seddon.
Heaviest Bag:    2 fish weighing 7lb 8oz for Karl Seddon.
Best Rainbow:    3lb 12oz for Gerry Brewer.
Best Brownie:    2lb 4oz for Ray Entwistle.
Best Blue:    4lb for Karl Seddon.
Bank Rod Av:    2.60 fish per angler.
Boat Rod Av:    5.20 fish per angler.
Sport: There were some reasonable catches made today despite the far from perfect angling conditions which saw a swirly, switchable wind and bright clear conditions this afternoon, it must be said that the best of the action was to be had this morning whilst there was good cloud cover. The boats that did well found fish drifting right out in open water with the best areas seeming to be from the dam, down past the alders and ten acre foot and as far down as Halsteads hike. Karl Seddon and boat partner John landed a total of 9 fish between them and had a lot of other offers that on another day would have stuck. Their best spot was a drift over Davy Jones and the deeps with the majority of their fish falling to a white booby fished on an intermediate line. Glen Russell landed 5 good fish and also experienced lots of other offers this morning by fishing dries right off the top. A daddy was Glens best pattern with fish coming from all over the ten acre foot area. At this time of year the trout are always looking up for their next morsel. Even if there are no fish rising you will catch on dries, the only reason there might be no fish rising is because there are no flies on the water, put one there and they will come for it. See you on the water Paul.

Stocks report:Wednesday8th July

Date:    Wednesday 8th July
Report Author:    Matthew
Best Catch:    11 fish for Rob Denson
Heaviest Bag:    5 fish for 21lb 11oz Steve Horrocks
Best Rainbow:    12lb 11oz Steve Horrocks
Best Brownie:    Several at 2lb+
Best Blue:    2lb 8oz Rob Denson
Bank Rod Av:    2.00
Boat Rod Av:    2.60
Sport:  Some cracking sport from the boats first thing with numerous fish rising and confidently taking daddy’s. Tapping in to those rising fish was Frank Hartley; Frank explained how the trout leapt onto his Daddy as soon as he started to retrieve it. Franks took 8 good fish with the spill way and the main basin being the top spots. As the day went on the fish became ever more active, preferring to chase flies pulled pretty quickly across the surface. Paul Bannister had some exciting sport stripping muddlers across the surface, and although he only had 4 in the net every other cast would see a bow waving trout crashing in behind his flies.
Rob Denson however had 11 good fish with dabblers and snatchers pulled steady just under the surface. Rob found most areas of the reservoir productive with no one area standing out.
Steve Horrocks had the best fish of the day weighing in at 12lb 8oz. Steve tempted the specimen fish on a Dawson’s Olive fished slowly on a floating line up by the dam.
Not to be out done Ken Horrocks had a cracking fish at 10lb+ again falling for a Dawson’s Olive. I do have a photograph of Steve’s fish and will try to get it on the report by tomorrow. (The camera lead seems to have fallen out with me!)
The weather looks pretty darn fishy for the next few days so I would think them averages will creep up and up!

Date:    Sunday 5th July
Report Author:    Pete
Best Catch:    6 fish by Lloyd Edwards
Heaviest Bag:    9lb 8oz by Lloyd Edwards
Best Rainbow:    4lb by Bernard McBride
Best Brownie:    N/a
Best Blue:    N/a
Bank Rod Av:    2.00 fish per angler
Boat Rod Av:    3.4 fish per angler
Sport: Today should have been perfect had it not been for a couple of thunderstorms this afternoon. The fish were rising all across the reservoir and the breeze was very slight with good cloud cover. The anglers on the bank found it tricky today with 2 fish by Steve Macintosh the top score. On the boats however things fished significantly better with quite a few decent catches, regular Steve Bland had a good day with 5 fish caught and returned all on a single blob with a long leader and commented on how many plucks and Knocks he had. But top rod and boat goes to Lloyd Edwards with 6 fish and his boat partner Bernard McBride with 3 all their fish came from the dam wall area with Bernard going for a traditional attack with a viva. He also had the biggest fish of the day with a cracking 4lb rainbow. See you in the lodge Pete

Stocks: Saturday 4th July

Date:    Saturday 4th July
Report Author:    Pete
Best Catch:    Several anglers with 5 fish
Heaviest Bag:    5 fish for 12lb by Mr Rowe
Best Rainbow:    6lb by Paul Banister
Best Brownie:    N/a
Best Blue:    N/a
Bank Rod Av:    1.57 fish per angler
Boat Rod Av:    2.25 fish per angler
Sport: The day started well with good cloud cover and light winds but the sun broke through and mad the fish a little tricky but there were still some good catches. On the bank Regular Dave Flitcroft landed 5 cracking fish from the east bank. Dave was fishing a small black booby on an intermediate line. Also on the bank Mr Rowe also with 5 fish found the spillway area of the dam the best for him with a cat’s whisker doing most of the damage. Out on the boats the anglers found it a little trickier but regular John Sykes landed 5 fish all fell to a daddy on the surface also out on the water Paul Banister landed four fish on a ½ day ticket his fish fell to a home tied blob variant. The weather forecast for tomorrow predicts plenty of cloud so it should be a good day for fishing. See you in the lodge Pete

Stocks report: Friday 3rd July

Date:    Friday 3rd July

Best Catch:    11 fish for Peter Andrews
Heaviest Bag:    4 fish for 9lb 3oz Tony Taylor
Best Rainbow:    4lb 5oz David Uff
Best Brownie:    Several for 2lb 8oz
Best Blue:    2lb 2oz Peter Solomon
Bank Rod Av:    2.00fish per angler
Boat Rod Av:    3.00 fish per angler
Sport: The recent downpours have shook things up for sure! Coupled with the milder weather and the fishing is certainly looking up. Peter Andrews had a good day finding fish everywhere with dries doing the business. Peter took almost all his 11 fish on the dries. Our Paul Bebb had 8 fish in a few hours on the dries with Daddies and beetles doing the trick. Tony Taylor had success with 5 trout coming to black hoppers.
Although there is a bit of rain about this weekend the fishing is going to be superb!
Tight lines Matthew
