Sport: The long awaited rain arrived this last week and the water has risen which in the long run can only be a good thing. The day after the first real downpour we have had for months we held the Stocks boat masters competition but the sudden change made the fishing tricky compared with the weeks previous. The winner was Peter Crowe with 3 trout, 2nd was Colin Fitzjohn, 3rd was Mark Tyndall and in 4th place was the angling legend that is Sir Bob Cooper. As it was these anglers were all in the same 2 boats and the only ones to figure out that the trout wanted to chase the flies so blobs and damsels pulled was the best tactic. Mr Butterworth fished from the bank this week between Hollins point and Bell point where he landed 4 fish and had a good number of other chances. A traditional approach was the best with a home tied black and peacock spider sort of pattern taking his fish. Out on a boat was Bob Fitzpatrick who landed 7 fish on his orange daddy. Bob found plenty of action on his dry flies right in open water from the dam wall into the main basin. The top catch today went to Richard Wincer with 4 fish which were caught on a washing line set up around the Bell point area, Syotw Paul.
