Sport: As you can see from todays average Stocks continues to fish excellently with fish coming to a multitude of flies lines and methods. When i arrived this morning there was a very slight ripple on the water and fish rising right across the reservoir what a way to greet the day! On the bank Alan Curzon was once again amongst the fish with 7 trout on a short half day ticket
. Alan caught his fish from Bell Point and found black buzzers and a damsel lure fished on a floating line to be his best tactics. Someone else who found buzzers to be too the trouts liking today was Mike Farr, Mike is usually a river angler but has paid us a few visits this year and caught well. Today was no exception with 9 fish to the net including 2 wild brownies that commented on the fact he would be more than happy if they’d come from his home river the Eden a high accolade for sure thanks mike. The Biggest fish of the day a stunning rainbow of 6lb8oz was caught by stocks regular Don Blades good angling don.
Out on the boats stock resident Tony Taylor was showing he can mix it up on the boats just as well as he can on the bank with 11 fish from the Northern Shallows area with boobies and cormorants pulled on a di3 his best tactic. Our very own Paul Bebb was out with regular Rob Shelton today they had 15 fish to the boat from right across the reservoir fishing boobies on a floating line, Paul commented on the fact that the best tactic was too cast at rising fish and rip the booby back, but you had to be fast on the fish and accurate with your cast. Today’s top catch came from Neil Coulson who landed 16 fish, again on boobies but this time on an intermediate line with his best areas being the causeway and the dam. So it shows the fish are all across the reservoir and are high in the water which is what myself and Bob Fitzpatrick found in a short 3hr session last night landing over 20 fish including a stunning full finned rainbow of 13lb(pic below) again boobies on a floating line was the best method.See you out there Pete
