Sport: It’s been another day of big fish today with 4 over 8lb. The first of the day went to Len Ryding who landed 10 fish mainly from bens beach. Lens fish tipped the scales at 8lb 8oz. Also on the bank regulars Tony Taylor and Ken Whiteside were once again amongst the fish, Ken taking 5 fish on his UDF fly and tony taking six on his TT Cormorant both anglers were fishing the Hartleys to Bens Beach area. On the boats we had a group of anglers from the civil service with us today they all caught well top rod was George Ashton with 14 fish followed closely by Ritchie Kelly with 10 fish. Both Ritchie and George caught well on Nomad and Blob patterns catching their fish from the east bank and Gull Island. Amongst the civil service group we had two fish just under the double figure mark Jose Villarino’s fish weighed 9lb 4oz and Nigel Conlons fish was dead on 9lb (see pics below). Other good catches from the boats were 8 fish for Ricky Newbolt, Andy Slater and Mr Foreshaw, the latter of which caught his fish on Diawl Bachs from the Northern Shallows. That’s good news for those nymph fishermen out there. Another big fish has just been reported to me bank angler Brian Magrane a rainbow that he estimated at between 8-9lb. With a glorious weekend forecast the water temperature with be on the rise and in so doing getting those buzzers and nymphs to hatch. See you out there Pete.
