Sport: Today was an extremely windy day up here at Stocks, accompanied with bright sunshine conditions did not look good for the anglers today. However despite the conditions the fishing has been good, there has been a number of fish caught of the bank today. Stocks regular Mark Wilson had a good half day session, fishing a small black micro fritz booby on a Di 3 line just using a figure of 8. He landed 4 fish and lost another 5 at the net with a number of plucks and pulls as well. Mark fished along the bank near the jetty working up and down and contacting fish everywhere he went. After Mark had finished his session he came to the lodge just as Tom Heys was heading out to the water. Mark shared the information on what he had been catching on to Tom; he then went down to Barn Quarry where he had 4 fish in an hour.  Tom fished a small size 12 UV booby and commented that when the sun went behind the clouds he had nothing but as soon as it re-appeared he would have a take or a pull. This shows the affect that a UV fly can have in the bright sunshine, I wonder if UV nymphs will have the same effect???  Out on the boats today Mark Tyndall had a good days fishing on Di 5 line with a sparkler booby on the point and an orange blob on the dropper to take 11 fish. Although not all the sport today came to the sinkers also on the bank in Barn Quarry was Vincent Young who fished a floating line and a Whiskey fly, to take a number of fish. Also fishing a floater today was Steve Bland, Steve fished up at the Dam in a boat with the washing line with Cats Booby’s and Diawl Bachs to bring 7 fish to the boat including a lovely 4 and half pound Rainbow. To illustrate the different methods used to day Steve’s boat partner Duncan Watson fished a Di 3 and a size 8 Dognobbler to claim his fish.

Tight Lines Tom
