SPORT: In first half of this period cat’s whiskers and black fritz fished on a floating line with a long leader and a slow retrieve accounted for the best catches. However more recently buzzers and bloodworm have produced some great scores. Many anglers have reported that the trout are nipping the flies and although they are getting lots of takes they are difficult to hook. This has been especially true with patterns with long tails or long bits of flexifloss in the pattern. I.e. Apps worms. Anglers fishing with more realistic buzzers or tighter fly patterns are getting better conversion rates. Tony Taylor has used a bright yellow super glue buzzer to great effect completing the Bank House McNab on both his visits. Tony fishes his deadly pattern on the dropper with a small fritz lure on the point and a figure of eight retrieve. He has also prefers long lining as opposed to the bung. Mr M Peckford from Cleater Moor found an alternative method. He used an intermediate line with a black ‘n’ green booby on the point and bloodworms on the droppers. He had a steady stream of rainbows to the net and amongst them was a cracking 14lb rainbow. Tight Lines Ben and Charlotte
