The reservoir is now full! Its very rare to have a full reservoir at this time of year but it’s resulted in good numbers of fish cruising close in. The top methods have been washing lining and pulling lures tight in to the bank, however on calm days fish can be seen rising in the middle of the lake and can be tempted on dries and nymphs cast to them.

We’re nearly full! The recent heavy rain has brought the level right up and if the forecast is correct for the coming week the reservoir will be full by next weekend. The fishing is showing signs of improving with quite a few 4-6 fish bags and anglers reporting a lot of follows, swirls etc. Signs are looking good for the week ahead. The best methods this week have been various lures fished close to the bank with varied retrieves producing the best results.

Another tough week which has seen some anglers bagging a few. There have been two main methods working either boobies fished deep on di7 and di8 or dries.
On Sunday we had our first in house competition post lockdown and welcomed 30 anglers (15 pairs) to fish the Air Ambulance Blind Pairs Charity Match. We are pleased to say that we managed to raise £532.50! Thanks to everyone who entered and donated. The match itself was tough but Scott Graham’s 8 fish bag combined with his partner in the draw Gwyneth Mooney’s gave them a combined bag weight of 18lb 1oz which won the match. Congratulations to the winners, 2nd place pair Dave Morris and Peter Andrews, 3rd place pair Derek Moore and Gavin Murray and everyone else who entered.

Hopefully some cooler temperatures and settled weather will see the fishing pick up in the coming week.

Look forward to seeing you up here soon.

Not been an easy week of fishing up here at Stocks but we are still seeing a lot of flying ants in the evenings which the fish have been switching on to along with a few other insects hitting the water and hatching at different points in the day. Dries and washing lining have been the best methods with persistence being key.

Look forward to seeing you up here soon.
