Sport: Overnight rain has freshened up the reservoir and the trout were feeding on small black flies on the surface. On the shore almost everyone fished a half day ticket. The best catch was five trout caught by John Sykes. John only fished for a few hours on Bell Point. He caught all his fish on a floating line, three took a black snake and two took a prince nymph. Nice to see you back John.
Out on the boats all the anglers reported plenty of action but said they were tricky to catch. Bob Fitzpatrick was top rod with seven trout on a variety of dries and diawl bachs. Tight Lines Ben

Today fished much better the trout were high in water and out over open water. Well done to Tanahill Raiders who all went out with the same cast of flies and all caught well on them. The best trout put on the scales was 3lbs 3oz caught by Stephen Martin. We saw several other 3lb fish caught so it was very close. Tight Lines Ben

Thursday July 13th

Today we hosted the floating line heat of the Anglers World Fly Fishing Championship. The grand final is on Draycote Water later in the year and will see one lucky winner sent off on an exotic fishing holiday.  It was bright sunshine and breezy today at Stocks, not good conditions for a floating line competition but that’s what they had to do. Well done to all who participated and continue to support this great competition. Tomorrow will see the any line day with hopefully more cloud cover. See results and pics below. Syotwp.
