STOCKS RESERVOIR SEASON ENDS
The 2015 season has come to an end. I hope you thoroughly enjoyed your visits to the fishery and we would like to thank you all for your support this season, we really appreciate your custom. At the end of the season we invited all the anglers that caught a double figure fish this year to come and fish for the chance to win a season ticket for the 2016 season. I am happy to announce that Bob Fitzpatrick was the top rod so he finished a hugely successful season. Not only did he fish at Stocks every week of the season and caught fish on every single visit, but he also qualified for the 2016 England Loch Style Team. Good Angling

BANK ROD AV: 2.20 fish per angler
BOAT ROD AV: 5.00 fish per angler
Sport: Wednesday: Bob Fitzpatrick and Darren Booth took a boat out to fish their doubles club fish off. They had eight rainbows and blues to the boat fishing the washing line with boobies and nymphs over the saddle and the Northern Shallows. Bob caught six fish but mistakably returned his sixth fish, which was nice blue, so he put five fish on the scales for 7lbs 15oz, somewhat small by Stock standards, but he has set the target for all the other doubles club members.
From the shore the bank anglers were catching on dry hoppers between the jetty and Barn Quarry. Also Shauna Fowler and Brain Wilcock took four rainbows and browns on worm along Hartley’s Bank.
Thursday: Another Doubles club angler Graham Bell tried his luck to topple Bob Fitzpatrick off pole position to win a season ticket for next year. Graham fish over the Northern Shallows and close in around Hollins Bay/ Barn Quarry to catch a total seven fish. Unfortunately for him four of them were brown trout which are now out of season, so he put three rainbows on the scales for 6lbs 15oz. Just to rub the salt into his wounds he lost three more rainbows including a 4lb fish right at the lip of the net! Unlucky Graham.
Felicity Appleton fished nymphs on a floater along the shore from the Jetty to Ben’s beach. She landed four fish including a 2lb+ brownie.
The best patterns have been damsels, hot headed diawl backs, Hoppers and daddies. Tight Lines Ben
Below is a list of this years ‘Doubles Club’ qualifiers entitled to fish for a 2016 Season Ticket as per Ben’s message posted yesterday. Should your name be missing and you caught a double figure trout at Stocks this season please call the Lodge (01200 446602) for inclusion, Nick.
Saturday/Sunday/Monday October 31st –Nov 2nd
Sport: The water level started to rise last week and although slow the total increase is about four feet. Fish are still being caught by most anglers visiting at the moment. I wasn’t on duty over the weekend but I know Bob Fitzpatrick had four nice fish during as half day session on Sunday. He fished diawl bachs on a floating line over the Northern Shallows and in Hollins Bay. Today Bruce Irvine also had four trout on buzzers and diawl bachs whilst fishing from the shore from the jetty to Bell Point. Also we have started the worm and spin period until the end of the season on November the 15th and It has got off to a pretty good start. Peter Kosminski fished a ledger with worm from Bell Point to take 12 rainbows to 4lbs; he said the trick was only to only cast two rod lengths out.
Please note that is worm and spin only, no ground bait or maggot and there is no catch and release fishing with spinners. Tight lines Ben
