BANK ROD AV:    2.25 fish per angler.
BOAT ROD AV:    4.00 fish per angler.
Sport: A nice day to be out fishing with high temperatures and plenty of sunshine. Despite the bright sunshine there were some good catches made. The best catch from the bank today went to Richard Wincer who landed 5 fish. Richard caught all his fish on a daddy from the dam wall. Out on a boat today was Richard Hood and Roger Minsall who landed 12 fish between them. As other anglers they were practicing for the comp tomorrow so they drifted all over the lake taking fish all over. Two boat anglers landed into double figures, Peter Kirk and Geoff Thomas. Both anglers fished from drifting boats taking fish in different areas with various dries and nymphs taking the majority of their fish. The biggest fish of the day fell to the rod of Kevin Ormesher who landed a 10lb 10oz rainbow trout. Kevin caught his fish from the dam on a green fritz lure. See pic below. See you on the water.

Stocks: Wednesday June 11th

DATE                                  Sunday June 8th & Monday June 9th Report by Ben
BEST CATCH                   10+ Ken Whiteside & Paul Bebb
BEST BAG                         5 trout for 13lbs 12oz Keith Charnock
BEST RAINBOW             5lbs 0z for Alfred Stevens
BEST BLUE                      3lbs 0oz for Ken Whiteside
BEST BROWN                 2lbs 0oz for Ken Whiteside
BANK AVERAGE           5.5 Fish per angler
BOAT AVERAGE           3.9 Fish per angler
SPORT:  Ken Whiteside got off to a flying start this morning catching into double figures before some anglers had got started. Ken fished in Hollins Bay, Two Trees, Barn Quarry and Hartleys with a floating line and his own pattern called a UDF. To more specific he caught on a WUDF and BGUDF? I think the W stands for white and BG stands for black n green but that’s all I know. The lures have served him extremely as he regularly catches into double figures. Ken’s bumper catch today included rainbows blues and browns. Good Angling.
Also on the shore Rudolph Quagliana caught six trout on dabblers from Bell Point, Paul Ding caught six in Hollins on Buzzers and Alfred Stevens caught three fish for 13lbs from Bell Point on Cats whiskers.
Out on the boats top rod was Paul Bebb who caught 10 trout on Dries from the Dam area. Keith Charnock had a good day with eight trout to cats boobies from the Northern end of the reservoir and Dave Moodie took 7 trout on Diawl Bachs, he was also fishing at the Dam. The majority on boat anglers were on half day tickets today. The weather looks fantastic over the next few days so it might be worth a trip out. We still have plenty of boats available except for Saturday.
It’s also worth noting that Bank House is fully booked this Saturday so please spread the word if you know anyone is planning to come.
Lastly I found a watch in the mud in the reservoir, it’s still working so if you have lost one give me call at the lodge or on 0789 6000 939. Tight Lines Ben

Stocks:Tuesday 10th June.

DATE:    Tuesday 10th June.
REPORT AUTHOR    Paul.
NOTABLE CATCH:    8 fish for David Maughan.
NOTABLE BAG:    N/A.
BEST RAINBOW:    3lb 2oz for David Maughan.
BEST BLUE:    Several weighing 2lb.
BEST BROWN:    N/A.
BANK ROD AV:    1.00 fish per angler.
BOAT ROD AV:    5.00 fish per angler.
Sport: The weather this morning was mixed with bright spells then the odd shower then this afternoon we had an impressive lightning storm so anglers went home early. The best catch today went to David Maughan with 8 fish. David drifted all over the lake and caught in all areas. There was no best pattern for David with various dries and nymphs all taking fish. At the moment the trout are spread all over so drifting from a boat as opposed to anchoring can bring better results. Also bank fishing it pays to keep on the move covering fresh water as you go. See you on the water Paul.

Sunday & Monday 8th & 9th June

DATE                          Sunday June 8th & Monday June 9th Report by Ben
BEST CATCH            10+ Darren Booth, Steve Welsh
BEST BAG                  4 trout for 13lbs 8oz John Brown
BEST RAINBOW    14lbs 10z for Warren Langridge,
BEST BLUE               8lbs 8oz for Ian Dickinson, 7lbs John Brown
BEST BROWN          3lbs 13oz for Nick Thornborrow
BANK AVERAGE     4.6 Fish per angler
BOAT AVERAGE     3.9 Fish per angler
SPORT:  I have very little information on Sunday’s sport other than Warren Langridge had a brilliant rainbow of 14lbs 10oz, (photo to follow), Steve Welsh had another tagged fish winning a tackle voucher and Dave Zalens caught nine from the shore at the Dam on hoppers and black and peacock spiders. The boats fished very well but everyone kept their cards close to their chest as they were practising for the match that was fished today. The rod averages above were for today’s catches.
So to Monday. Today was the first of two heats of the Anglian Airflo 6 man Team competition. We had three teams today with seven more teams fishing on Saturday. (Incidentally with still need two anglers to complete one of the teams on Saturday so if you would like to fish for Stocks Cormorants please call me: 0789 6000 939).
Greys Team Stocks had a dominant performance today with 52 fish to the six of them giving them a rod average of 8.7 to the team. They did it on dries predominantly on daddies and hoppers. They tried to make sure that they had members of the team spread across different areas of the reservoir so that they weren’t fishing over the same fish. The individual match winner was Darren Booth who caught 11 trout in and around Newclose Bay. Good angling guys you got it right.
In second place was Tannahill Raiders who have also qualified for the Northern Final they too caught on dries and a few other methods. They caught a great stamp of fish with nearly every member having a 3lb+ fish in their bag. Graeme Bell Gave a captain’s performance with 9 fish to the boat and John Brown had the best fish in the match with a lovely 7lb blue trout.
In third place were The Stocks Otters. All credit to you guys, you were a new team with three members fishing their first ever competition. They gave the other two teams a run for their money and it was great to see new faces fishing. I hope you all enjoyed it.
